Project 6 - Live Project

The deadline for the final proposals will be this Tuesday (6th Nov) at 8.00pm.

We have set up a dropbox for each group to submit your treatment into. You all should have received an invitation to join the dropbox we have setup. If you have a dropbox account already then it should be easy to accept and then upload your treatment directly to the dropbox we have setup for this purpose. If not, then you will have to open an account. Remember dropbox is a shared folder hosted in the cloud. These means that each person joined to that dropbox can move/edit/delete the files in it. Please DONT move/edit/delete any files from that dropbox. Last year a student deleted everyone else's work by mistake don't let that be you!

If you want more information about the dropbox and how it works I have produced a info sheet explaining the way it works, which is on the Lv1 blog.  http://uelgraphics1.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/dropbox.html

If you have NOT got an invite to the dropbox: please double check you spam folder (it will be addressed from dropbox.com), then contact  edgilltutor@googlemail.com

ALSO PLEASE read the following points (which are an extension of the brief) to make sure that your proposals are as good as they can be.

1. Please make sure your pitch is submitted as either a Word doc, or a PDF and not exceeding 3Mbs. We can't have the idea submitted just as text in an email or rich text document. ~ Remember that  it will be read by a professional producer, so look sharp!

2. It's a good idea to back up your idea with visual references / storyboards / mood boards -  if it's relevant. Remember you are trying to 'sell' them your idea, to 'win' the opportunity so anything that helps them to understand your idea visually is helpful.

3 Attached are a couple of different  'Treatments' from a few years ago as an example of how to outline a film idea on paper. Two of these videos were commissioned.  Below is a link to 'The Beta Band' one (pretty weird) and the 'Hell is For Heroes' one (straight performance) so you can see the link from treatment to finished film. And some other ones that show different styles of writing, and one that's laid out with visual references, etc. So that should help you.

4. Make sure your name is included on the treatment itself AND in the file name e.g:  Ed_Gill_C4_proposal.doc

5. Remember that the main stipulation was that the ideas are SIMPLE and INNOVATIVE.

6. Remember that a strong simple idea should be able to be pitched in one sentence eg:  "Jaws in space" - Ridley Scott's legendary pitch on 'Alien'. So test it out on your idea and see if it works. If you can't sum it up in a sentence or two hat it might not be SIMPLE enough???

Ok. Good luck, go for it!

Best,

Ed
