Project - 'Zine Thing Update

To make sure we have enough ink/toner for everyone we will impose the following restrictions on the 'Zine production. Each team (of three) will be producing 32 pages of work printed on six sheets of A4 or A3 ie 8 pages each. The limits will be: * Of those six sheets of A4 or A3 only one can be full colour (four pages). * Two sheets can be a single spot colour (eight pages). * The rest will have to be B+W or some other type of printing. Hand made stamps? Potato stamps? lino cut prints etc Think about using different coloured paper stock and maybe a card for the cover? Experiment Best

A0 Kimono update

A couple of things I needed to stress, that has come out of the work that I have seen so far:

1. Not anywhere enough prints have been printed? I realise some of you could not print on Monday evening (which I apologise for - ink order problems) but why have so many of you missed the print slots I setup for you?

No printing can be done on Friday, TOMORROW is the only opportunity to print now.

2. We have seen a few prints that are landscape!  To be able to hang the work they have to be Portrait (we did say several times)! It maybe that you have to re-print if this is the case.

3. To enable us to keep your prints as good as possible we have been storing them in the screen printing studio with the technician Glen. That way they avoid travelling back and forward from home and risk being damaged.

4. Your follow peer Amy has found the correct bulldog clips in 'Gallions reach WHSmith, they are in a packet of 5 and are 38mm' Please get your clips from there. It maybe be that some of you can go during the morning tomorrow during class. Look on Facebook for more details!

Tomorrow will be hanging up artwork in the studio, this means hammers, nails, sprit levels and general DIY type activity. Don't wear your best Armarni suit!

Best

Day Trip Information

Hello first year graphics...

I hope you're all ready for tomorrow (and Friday's) day trip?
Basically we don't have too much to add - so please re-read the information below carefully and make sure you come fully prepared. We will be finishing at around 4.30ish. See you at 10.00am.

...
We are NOT striking tomorrow as we both feel the only people who are disadvantaged are you the students.

Best, Ed and Dan.

We will be meeting at 10.00am in Trafalgar Square on the central steps. Please locate it and plan plan your route there with this journey planner:

http://www.london.gov.uk/priorities/art-culture/trafalgar-square/visiting-the-square

Here are some things that you will need to bring:

1. Sketchbook and pens / pencils ( of course!)

2. Camera ( iphone's will do)

3. Umbrella ( still gotta do the project if it rains)

4. A warm coat, hat and scarf, possibly even some gloves (you will be outside pretty much all day.)

5. An A-Z map, in case you get lost!

6. Some money ( you will need to buy lunch and a coffee or two so have at least £10.00 on you if possible, if not possible prepare a packed lunch and a drink.)

7. Your phone.

8. Your common sense! Please travel in with a friend if you're not familiar with central London. You will be working in groups during the day, so hopefully no one will get lost.

Security marking of personal equipment

The school of Arts and Digital Industries will be holding two sessions next week where staff and students can security mark their personal equipment with UV pens.  This is almost invisible to the eye but clearly visible under UV lights, used by police and security to identify recovered stolen equipment.

I would encourage you to mark all valuables that you may bring to school to improve the chances of recovery if they are stolen.  These sessions are available to all and will be held in the foyer of the AVA building on:

Monday 22nd October 12-1pm

Tuesday 23rd October 12-1pm
