Day Trip Information
Hello first year graphics...
I hope you're all ready for tomorrow (and Friday's) day trip?
Basically we don't have too much to add - so please re-read the
information below carefully and make sure you come fully prepared. We
will be finishing at around 4.30ish. See you at 10.00am.
...
We are NOT striking tomorrow as we both feel the only people who are disadvantaged are you the students.
Best, Ed and Dan.
We will be meeting at 10.00am in Trafalgar Square on the central steps.
Please locate it and plan plan your route there with this journey
planner:
http://www.london.gov.uk/ priorities/art-culture/ trafalgar-square/ visiting-the-square
Here are some things that you will need to bring:
1. Sketchbook and pens / pencils ( of course!)
2. Camera ( iphone's will do)
3. Umbrella ( still gotta do the project if it rains)
4. A warm coat, hat and scarf, possibly even some gloves (you will be outside pretty much all day.)
5. An A-Z map, in case you get lost!
6. Some money ( you will need to buy lunch and a coffee or two so have
at least £10.00 on you if possible, if not possible prepare a packed
lunch and a drink.)
7. Your phone.
8. Your common
sense! Please travel in with a friend if you're not familiar with
central London. You will be working in groups during the day, so
hopefully no one will get lost.

Security marking of personal equipment
The school of Arts and Digital Industries will be holding two sessions next week where staff and students can security mark their personal equipment with UV pens. This is almost invisible to the eye but clearly visible under UV lights, used by police and security to identify recovered stolen equipment.
I would encourage you to mark all valuables that you may bring to school to improve the chances of recovery if they are stolen. These sessions are available to all and will be held in the foyer of the AVA building on:
Monday 22nd October 12-1pm
Tuesday 23rd October 12-1pm

This week.....
Hi Graphics Students,
Firstly I think you all deserve a pat on the back for producing some
great videos for last weeks project. Both myself and Ed were really
impressed with the videos. With this in mind I would like all groups to
send a link to their videos, please email me this link. If you still
have not been able to upload the video to youtube then please get that
done first.
Secondly the critiques we had with both groups were
really active, this shows us you are committed and hopefully this will
continue and improve.
Next week we will be introducing you all to Adobe Illustrator (http://www.adobe.com/uk/ products/illustrator.html).
In small groups I will take these lessons while the rest of you will
work with Ed in the studio. Each group will swap around during the day.
It is of up most importance that you make sure you have a Mac login to
be able to use the computers. You can test if you have one by typing in
your UEL user-name and enter as the password into the log-in screen of
any Mac at the AVA, MPS or the Library. If this does not work you will
need to go here: http://mpsinfo.co.uk/ apple-mac-support/ get-a-mac-login.html
your'll need to know your UEL email address and Student Number.
Please continue to develop your branding idea until you reach an
excellent solution. Re read the brief again and again until you
understand exactly what is being asked of you. Reductive expressive
clarity is what is needed. For the time being keep it hand rendered and
on paper. Remember to bring this work in this week.
